Book Review: That Girl From Nowhere by Dorothy Koomson

Ajoobacats Blog

Clemency Smittson is adopted and has felt the disconnection generated by this as far back as she can remember. At a point in her life where she uproots and decides to start again she relocates to Brighton and Hove, which inexplicably brings her face to face with her real past, but also puts her in a difficult situation, which might change everything for her.

Although not quite as intriguing as The Ice Cream Girls, I enjoyed this book because of the way Koomson so legitimately captures emotions in her characters. I found Clemency hard to read as I have little common ground with this character but cannot fault the character herself. I was hoping for a much more of a twist in this book but it’s still a very good read.
